Dave Kaleba

Dave joined the Pinnacle KC team in January 2017 after developing beverage programs at some of Kansas City’s top restaurants with Fox Restaurant Concepts, La Bodega, and Bread & Butter Concepts. Working as a bar manager and sommelier at such a diverse set of high-volume restaurants helped lead to a lifelong passion for wines and spirits from the Old World. With a background in Music Education and Jazz from the University of Kansas, creativity and continuing education are still two of Dave’s biggest passions he brings to the wine trade. Staff trainings, retail tastings, and wine dinners are seen as opportunities to tell the stories of the important regions and artisans responsible for the wines represented in Pinnacle’s ever growing portfolio.

Favorite wine to sell -  One of Dave’s favorite producers to sell right now are the wines from Domaine de la Solitude from Chateauneuf-du-Pape and the Cotes du Rhone. Florent Lancon was the final winemaker we visited on our 2017 France trip, and his family ties to the region run so deep, they have a Pope (Urban VIII) in the family’s storied history. Kansas City loves grilled meat, and so do these wines.

Favorite wine to drink -  Dave and his wife Lucy love drinking bone-dry roses in the heat of Kansas City summers, and Red Car’s Rose of Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast is a perennial favorite this time of year. Great with BBQ, grilled seafood, or as a thirst quenching aperitif on the patio.
